Our Avon oval puzzle ring bears a rich blue lapis lazuli gemstone, a stone that may be flecked with calcite (white), sodalite (blue), and pyrite (metallic gold in color).
The use of the beautiful lapis lazuli has a long and storied history: there is evidence that it was mined in northeastern Afghanistan as long as 9,000 years ago (7,000 BCE). It is said to have been prized by the Indus Valley civilization between the years of 3,300 and 1,900 BCE. It was then more widely used for centuries – you can see it in the original or in images of the funeral mask of Tutankhamun (1341–1323 BCE). Lapis lazuli eventually was exported to late Medieval Europe where it was ground into pigment and used by Renaissance painters including Vermeer and Titian usually for the clothing of the Virgin Mary or angels (Wikipedia).
Our four-band, genuine puzzle ring provides fun and fascination as you master its assembly and show your skill off to your friends and loved ones. Use our video instructions, and, with practice, you will put it together in under 30 seconds.
