Your Colored and Alternative Gemstone Choices |

Genuine or lab-created? We all love genuine gemstones because they are natural creations, they are from the Earth, and they have a wonderful mystique. Still, lab-created stones are gaining in popularity. We unabashedly offer you both options and leave it to you to decide what fits best for you. |

Genuine Sapphire AA – Premium II Moh’s Hardness Scale: 9 |
||||
Sapphire is by far the most popular gemstone next to diamonds, not only here at Crystal Realm, but generally in the western world. Because of this, we devote three rows to this exceptional stone. Sapphire is a variety of corundum, which is the 2nd hardest mineral known to science. |
||||
Durable and scratch resistant, sapphires can only be scratched by diamonds. |
Folklore: Joyous thoughts, love, peace of mind, health and healing. Folk name: holy stone. |

Genuine Tanzanite – Standard I
Stones need to be large to have significant color (1CT or greater) Stones smaller than 1CT tend to be lighter in color. Still, Tanzanite is a trichroic gemstone, which means that it sparkles with different colors, something you can see more of in lighter colored stones. Lately the princess-cut tanzanites we’ve had access to are a deep purple as shown here. |

Genuine Emerald – Premium I
Moh’s Hardness Scale: 7.5-8 Emerald is a fragile gemstone. It’s not the hardness scale that indicates this. Moh’s hardness scale simply tells which materials will scratch a given stone. So a diamond, which is a 10, cannot be scratched by any other stone, as they are all lower on the hardness scale. So the real issue with emerald is that it is a brittle stone. It breaks easily, so it’s not for you if you want to wear your ring every day and you cannot be aware of it moment to moment. It also requires special care – it should not be exposed to hot water, for example. So we don’t recommend genuine emerald unless no other stone will do! Instead, please consider lab-created emerald or Tsavorite green garnet, which is a gorgeous stone that has more life and sparkle to it than emerald. Another thing to consider if you really must have emerald is that a stone that hugs the ring, such as in our Guinevere style, will be safer than a stone that sticks up high off the ring, such as our marquise or Athena styles. |
