We are very proud of our service record for our puzzle engagement rings.
In the interest of full disclosure, Mandira has informally compiled data, so you can see why Crystal Realm customers have returned their custom-crafted Crystal Realm/Norman Greene puzzle rings for service in the past five years.
On the list, below, you'll see that,
other than resizes, we get very few puzzle ring service requests, probably because:
a)
Norm is truly an expert in crafting his/our exclusive hand-woven puzzle rings, and the majority of our customers have no problems with them.
b)
Part of his expertise is in only using the most secure, most bullet-proof diamond and gemstone settings. We can't say, like most jewelers do, "You need to come in and have this setting checked twice a year!"
c) Also, Norm is absolutely amazing at selecting diamonds and gemstones for our rings, which he does for every single ring (We don't buy "lots" of diamonds of varying quality that we "have to" sell to our customers).
First, and perhaps most important of all services, is what we have not yet ever been asked to do:
We've never once been asked to swap out the diamond on a puzzle ring! (But if yours is the first, we'll handle your request as cheerfully as any other.)
We individually select the diamond for each puzzle ring, and Norm sends back any diamond not meeting his high standards for sparkle and beauty on her hand. Perhaps for these reasons, we’ve not yet exchanged a single diamond Norm has set in a puzzle ring. If you wish to have your diamond exchanged for another, there is only one thing we ask - that you please tell Mandira within 72 hours of receiving the ring, so your diamond can be swapped out quickly and at no cost to you. (Remember, too, that our Red Box Diamonds include a lifetime trade-up guarantee for when you want to trade up to a bigger diamond.)
To exchange a diamond, please contact Mandira directly by phone (top or bottom of page) or by email at Contact Us OR you can. . .

Service Request and Incidence Summary:
A) Resize - (Too many resizes to count!) Your first resize – no matter when - is always free; you just pay for the round-trip shipping. Subsequent resizes are priced at 75% below market for four (or more) band rings. If your ring was a surprise engagement ring, then naturally you may need it sized.
Note: We encourage you to have finger(s) professionally sized or, even more reliable, to request our puzzle ring sizer before ordering at Contact Us, on the left navigation bar. You must specify that you want our puzzle ring sizer and include your full name, mailing address, and telephone number. If you're overseas military, no phone number is needed. (If the ring is to be a surprise, then please just do the best you can with size!)
B) Free annual polish and gemstone cleaning - we polish Crystal Realm wedding rings, too. Very few of our customers take advantage of this service.
C) Repair damage to ring (nine total) caused by a jeweler other than Norm who was asked to resize a ring, add gemstones, etc.
D) Bent prong on a marquise setting - (three) It takes a serious blow to bend this setting. One was smashed hard on a metal garage door. One was smashed in a closing door. The other one was smashed hard somewhere else.
Typically, one bent prong on the 6-prong marquise setting is not enough to cause the diamond or gemstone to fall out.
E) Bent prong on the original four-prong Juliet setting (two) - While we loved the design, the original Juliet setting was not strong enough. Shortly after we launched the Juliet puzzle ring, when the first diamond popped out after a long day hosting a yard sale, we offered to replace all Juliet settings for the owners we could reach (about five out of six), with a sturdier design, all expenses paid. The client whose diamond popped out had just sat down on her porch to rest after her yard sale. It was perfectly quiet. She heard the tiniest, "Ping!" When she looked at the porch under her chair, there was her beautiful diamond! The Juliet owner who we'd been unable to reach eventually called us to report her diamond had fallen out - luckily she hadn't lost it - so we did the same for her! Now we have our stronger, modified Juliet setting custom-made for all new rings.
F) Diamond fell out of a marquise setting - (Only one, and in our customer's bed, thankfully!) Norm reset and secured the stone. This one remains a mystery, and all we can say is that this ring was at one time handled by another jeweler who placed "V-shaped" diamond bands on each side of the puzzle ring, although we can't say for sure that he had any influence on the stone coming out.
G) Changed one color of garnet for another color of garnet, per customer preference. (One pair of rings)
H) A new weave - at least once we created a new puzzle ring (with the same diamond) for a customer who ordered one weave on her puzzle ring but wound up wanting a different weave.
I) Repair of damage - total incidence of three accident repairs fell under "Bent prong on a marquise setting" listed above. (And of course, other-jeweler-caused damage, also listed above, which we no longer accept.)
J) And just to keep me (Mandira) humble, let me confess that I once emailed Norm the wrong gold color for a puzzle ring order. (Crystal Realm paid all expenses to fix that one, natch!)
