1. Surprising Poesy and Celtic Sizing
Info
(and how to save time and money in
getting the perfect fit!)
It's astonishing, and very few jewelers will ever tell you this, but
there is no standard for ring sizing in the United States. Crystal Realm
has tried various mandrells (the tapered cylinder upon which a ring is
measured) and various finger sizers. Only one mandrell and one type of
finger sizer match Poesy and Celtic rings exactly.
To ensure the proper fit of your poesy or Celtic rings:
Request
a Loaner Finger Sizer if
you live in the U.S.
Read
our Size Information page, if you live in Canada, the UK, Australia,
New Zealand, or other overseas countries. You
may not need our sizer, but you'll find out in a minute..
2.
How soon will my Poesy ring order
ship?
Each ring is made to order. Choose Standard to
have your order ship in about 5-8 weeks.
Choose Rush ($30.00 per 1 or 2 gold rings or $35.00 per 1 or 2 sterling
silver ring) to ensure that your ring(s) will be delivered by four
weeks from the date you
order.
Crystal Realm provides a free rush on all platinum rings.
When you pay for your order to be rushed, it should ship within 3 weeks
after you order. If there are any quality issues during the production
of your ring(s), then our jewelers will rerush your ring at their expense,
which may delay your ring. It is very rare, but if, for some reason,
your ring order is delayed beyond your need-by date, we will ship you
loaner rings in your style and sizes in sterling silver. You would pay
only the extra shipping back and forth.
Please order your rings in advance of your need-by date if you can, to
allow for any eventuality. If you order well in advance, then you will
be more likely to have time for a round trip back to our jewelers so
your ring can be sized, if necessary.
3.
Are your Poesy rings priced singly
or in pairs?
Singly. To order a pair, first select your options for one ring and place
it in the shopping cart; double click on the ring in the cart; when you
are returned to the ring page, choose your options for the 2nd ring,
and place it in the cart.
4. Are Poesy
rings suitable for men as well as women?
Most of our orders for Poesy rings are for pairs. About half of our Poesy
orders are by women for men. Men enjoy the rings very much. Some men
prefer a style that is 5mm width
or wider in their size.
5. Can I
order
a Poesy ring with the design from one and the Poesy from another
or one with my own design and Poesy?
Sorry, we cannot do such custom orders. Many of the Poesy rings are licensed
reproductions and cannot legally be altered. Nor can we make a Poesy
ring not in our collection.
Important Notice Feb. 5, 2007: Tom and I are laying
the foundation for Crystal Realm to provide custom designed jewelry to
our customers. Stay tuned
for news of this in the late Spring, 2007
6. Can
we have our names engraved on the
inside of a Poesy ring that has nothing on the inside?
You can, and you'll need to find a local engraver who can do that. Be
certain that your rings fit, before you have them engraved. We can't
re-size a ring that's been engraved; nor can we take it back for any
reason.

Important Info about Gold
and White Gold Strength and Colors
Strength and
Durability
14K gold is stronger than 18K gold.
14K yellow gold is 58.5% gold and 41.5% alloyed metals. 18K gold is 75%
gold and 25% allowed metals. Gold is very soft, so the more gold in the
alloy, the softer it will be.
Colors
18K yellow gold is a much richer color than 14K yellow gold. So if you
want a really
deep gold color, choose 18K.
14K and 18K white gold have the very same amounts of gold in them as
indicated above for yellow gold. The metals mixed in for white gold have
to do double duty: they must both strengthen the gold and lighten its
color. While many white gold rings are rhodium (platinum family metal)
plated to make them very white, Poesy rings are not so plated. This is
because these are exacting historical reproductions.
Therefore, 14K white gold Poesy rings have a creamish cast to them under
certain lights. 18K white gold Poesy rings have a more pronounced creamish
cast, and it shows under a greater variety of light conditions. (Mandira's
note - I think the 18K white gold poesy rings are absolutely gorgeous.
The rings have a slightly "warm-ish" cast to them, so they
look very "rich" in tone.)
If you are seeking to place a white gold Poesy ring next to a white gold
engagement ring, we advise you to select 14K white gold. It is possible
that your rings will look a slightly different
color in certain lights. However, if you don't have your rhodium plated
engagement ring replated, eventually, it's color will almost match that of your
poesy ring.
8. What is your return
practice for rings?
In Mandira's words: "I will work with you
until you are either 100% delighted with the style, color and fit of
your ring(s) or until you
have your money back, less the appropriate cancellation fee(s) or re-stock
fees."

9. Exchanges & Resizes
for Poesy Rings
If
you have any issues with the rings you have ordered or already received
from us,
please email
Mandira the following information:
The
full shipping name and address of the order
Your name, if different, and your
telephone number
The stock #, name, metal and size of the ring
What is
wrong and what you need.
Any further questions you may have.
Mandira: "I will open a return file for you and will email you back
with return instructions, usually within the same day or 24 hours. I
like all our communications about returns to be by email, because then
you and I have a dated, written trail of the process, so we both know
where we are at all times."
If you have to return a Poesy ring to get a new size, you'll wind up
waiting 4-6 weeks for your replacement ring, as it will also be custom
made for you. So using our finger sizer saves time as well as money!
Please request a finger sizer before you order!
We
can sometimes resize rings that have been worn, if your size changes
over time, however, our jewelers will make the determination if your
worn ring can be safely resized or not. If they determine that your ring
has structural damage, then they will want to make you a new ring. You
will have the option of proceeding with and paying for a new ring. In
either case, you will get your original ring back.
Defective Poesy Rings
If you receive a ring that is defective in any way, then we will replace
it as quickly
as possible, at our expense.
Sterling Silver Ring Discoloration - Rare, But Possible
Please note that if you experience any ring or
finger discoloration from a sterling silver poesy ring, please temporarily
discontinue exposing
your ring to soaps, shampoos, conditioners, and lotions. Then immediately
contact Mandira at Contact
Us for further instructions. "I have a simple home remedy for
you, that will do the trick to keep this from happening again!" Mandira
